8 Year-Old Bashes Bill O' Reilly in Music Promo Ad
It is highly possible that MP readers have already seen this, but I just found out about it today, so I'm going to post it anyway for those of you who might have missed it.
Apparently, O'Reilly made an appearance on Oprah, and the band The Bastard Fairies decided to hire an 8 year-old actress to lambaste his views. The video was spread as an online promo ad for their free downloadable album available at their website.
Smart move-- O'Reilly (of course) couldn't take being told off by a child:
Did the kid know what she was saying? Does it matter? Is this really abusive? I think people like O'Reilly are over-reacting a tad; in context it's clearly intended to incite controversy to draw attention to the music. Though amusing, the ad does bring up the issue of children as a promotional tool. And at what point is the use of children in this way unacceptable? That is a question that could be debated for days, so I'll just leave you with an mp3.
